We're supporting two charities at upcoming concerts in Masham and Kirkby Stephen. Two concerts featuring each section of the orchestra are to be performed at Masham Town Hall on Saturday 21st June and Kirkby Stephen Parish Church on Sunday 22nd June 2025. This new venture allows the strings, woodwind and brass to take the limelight, performing fantastic music by Antonin Dvorak, Edward Elgar, Chris Hazell and Richard Strauss.

Each concert will be accompanied by a collection in aid of charities local to each venue. At Masham Town Hall we will be supporting Herriot Hospice, while at Kirkby Stephen Parish Church we will support Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team.

Herriot Hospice:

Herriot Hospice support local families living with terminal illness and bereavement. Last year Richmondshire Orchestra supported the development of the former Lambert Memorial Hospital in Thirsk. This year, the Lambert is almost ready for their first inpatients but have already launched a Community Hub, Just ‘B’ which provides specialist bereavement support, a Wellbeing Network and a Digital Support Service.

Donations will enable Herriot Hospice to deliver and develop new initiatives like the Lambert to support families through the most difficult times:
  • £28 could help the HOME service respond to increased demand from our community, who wish to remain in the safety and comfort of their own home at the end of their lives.
  • £50 could provide one to one telephone support for a family experiencing grief with a bereavement support specialist.
  • £100 could provide a comprehensive package of resources to support children or young people with their emotional wellbeing or bereavement.
Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team:

Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team is a volunteer search and rescue organisation covering south-east Cumbria, available 24 hours a day, every day, to help you enjoy the outdoors. Relying entirely on donations, they attend incidents not just in the hills but also in the community, assisting other organisations and emergency services if needed.
30 members of the team operate from a purpose-built base in Kirkby Stephen, attending rigorous training programmes twice a month. Training covers everything from casualty care to off-road driving, flood rescue and rope rescue on crags and steep ground.

They attend between 20 to 30 incidents every year. Since the beginning of 2025 members of KSMRT have attended 13 incidents including vehicles stranded by snow, searching for missing people, injured hikers and trapped sheep.
